What Is Online Hypnosis?

Online Hypnosis via Zoom with Tamsin Cooper Hypnotherapy

What is Online Hypnosis?

Close your eyes for a moment… and imagine what it would feel like to transform your life in a wonderful way, as you sit in your favourite chair or lie in the softness of your bed. Imagine losing weight or reducing your anxiety levels without leaving the comfort of your own home. This is the reality of hypnotherapy online.

So, what is hypnosis?

The induction of a state of consciousness in which a person apparently loses the power of voluntary action and is highly responsive to suggestion or direction.
(The Oxford Dictionary of English)

It is probably easier to explain what it is not:

  • You do not lose control, fall asleep or become a “zombie”.
  • You are not made to do anything silly, or that you do not want to do. You won’t, for example, run around the room clucking like a chicken. Neither will you be “programmed” to begin to twirl and prance like a ballerina on hearing a certain word. Can you imagine how embarrassing that would be, especially at a business meeting or whilst in the company of others?
  • Hypnosis is not magic!

So, how does online hypnosis work?

All you need is a connection to the internet on a device that has a camera, speaker and microphone e.g. A laptop, smartphone or tablet.

I mainly “see” my clients using the popular and secure Zoom platform – I will send you a link by email, on the morning of your hypnotherapy appointment. Then, just before your appointment time, simply click the link and you will be taken to the Zoom meeting room, where I will be waiting to greet you. We will be able to see each other and talk as though we were sitting physically together.

Many of my clients enjoy using earphones or headphones during these sessions to shut out any external noise.

If you prefer, we can use Apple FaceTime or WhatsApp, they both work just as well.

Please make yourself comfortable in a favourite chair or your bed. I will ask you to close your eyes and I will begin to talk to you, taking you into a hypnotic state. When the hypnotherapy has finished I will ask you to open your eyes – Most of my clients report feeling very calm and relaxed after the session.

Below are some of the questions I am asked by my clients:

Will the hypnotherapy work if my house is noisy? I have 3 children and a dog that barks. Our home is rarely ever quiet.
Answer: Yes, hypnotherapy will work in exactly the same way. Noise makes absolutely no difference to the results of the hypnosis.

What if I am disturbed, will the hypnotherapy still work?
Answer: Yes, the hypnosis will still work. If someone needs you or there is a knock at your door, then you will simply open your eyes, deal with the issue and then come back and we will continue your session seamlessly. Disturbance makes no difference at all to the quality of your online hypnosis treatment.

Will hypnotherapy work online as well as it would seeing you face to face?
Answer: YES! I work worldwide, so many of my clients have online hypnosis. Originally, we used Skype but more recently have changed to Zoom as technology moved on. It has only ever been “local” clients that came to my offices, mainly living within a fifty-mile radius of my practice. When we went into lockdown, all clients had to move to online hypnosis appointments. It was interesting that the clients I had been treating face to face, actually preferred switching over to online hypnosis, as they felt so much more comfortable in their own surroundings. They didn’t have the added time and stress of travelling to see me and also felt less vulnerable.

I hope that I have been able to help you to understand a little of how online hypnosis works if you have any further questions then please send me an email tamsin@tamsincooper.co.uk.

Until next time.
