7 Simple Ways to Boost Your Immune System

We seem to be constantly bombarded with uncertainty in our present lives.

Worrying can cause stress, which in turn release hormones into the body that can affect the immune system. If your immune system is suppressed, then this can lead to illness. For example, speaking to a client this morning, she told me how earlier in the year she’d had a bout of shingles. Her GP mentioned to her that stress could be a contributory factor in triggering shingles.

As a result of the current pandemic, people’s worry and stress levels are generally higher than normal. If you think that the average person has between 55,000 and 85,000 thoughts a day and most of those go unchecked. A proportion of these will be negative thoughts, that if you allow your mind to dwell on them, may result in a skewed view that then becomes a negative reality.

This negative reality can become a self-fulfilling scenario by causing you to worry and stress and this can then impact on your immune system, leading to illness.

But have no fear, there are ways you can help yourself. Your brain not only releases hormones as a result of stress and worry, it can also release “feel good” hormones such as serotonin, oxytocin, endorphins and dopamines which contribute to well-being and happiness. This is the effect we are going to concentrate on.

Here are 7 simple ways to release those feel-good hormones and boost your immune system:

  1. Set your radio so that you can listen to music at 528Hz in the morning as you wake. This has proven healing potential. The most famous song composed in 528Hz is John Lennon’s Imagine. 528Hz music can be found in many places including YouTube.
  2. Go for a walk. Even a 10-minute walk around the block can help clear and change your mindset. As you walk, breathe in the fresh air and take note of the beauty you see.
  3. If you have a garden, stand outside barefoot on the grass. Close your eyes, imagine thick roots coming out of the soles of your feet and going down into the earth. Imagine drawing up the strength of the earth through your roots, into your feet and up through your body… enjoy this connection with nature.
  4. Exercise releases endorphins so even a small amount of exercise will help your immune system.
  5. Take up a creative hobby, painting, music, dancing, sewing, knitting, cooking, and enjoy that sense of having created something special.
  6. Breathing. Place your hands on your stomach and take 6 slow deep breaths. As you breathe in, say the word “Calm” to yourself. As you breathe out, let go of your worries, stresses, troubles, problems and simply breathe them away.and finally,
  7. Watch something funny on the television – laughter really is the best medicine!

Please try some or all of the above to boost your immune system, stay safe and until next time…
