I have helped many clients over the years with hypnotherapy for insomnia
There are two different types of insomnia:
Both feel like torture and sleeping pills are not the answer as these can lead to addiction if used for an extended period and do not treat the underlying problem which is often stress related or an inability to "switch off" and relax.
Insomnia can leave you feeling tired and unable to cope impacting on your sanity and health. Insomnia can lead to memory problems, irritability, and with an increased risk of both diabetes and heart disease. In addition it leads to obesity as an increased appetite is caused by sleep deprivation.
When we sleep our subconscious tries to make sense of what is and what has gone on in our lives and tries to "store" the information away into "neat little boxes". Our minds become stimulated and go into overdrive, preventing sleep. With hypnotherapy for Insomnia I aim to train your brain to relax when you want it to and stop worrying about things and go to sleep.
Most adults need at least 7 to 8 hours undisturbed sleep but teenagers need closer to 9.
Shift workers can suffer from a form of insomnia known as Shift Work Sleep Disorder which put simply is a mix of insomnia and excessive sleepiness affecting people whose work hours overlap with the typical sleep period.
It is known that night workers have an increased incidence of heart disease, digestive disorders and menstrual irregularities and this may very well be down to sleep deprivation.
Sleep produces a healthy immune system and balances our appetites by regulating hormones. In addition tissue growth and repair takes place.
By retraining the brain, hypnotherapy can introduce calming techniques, encouraging a gentle, natural sleep pattern so that you can wake refreshed and ready for the day.
